A linear encoder measures the position of a machine slide directly and sends it to your control or readout. HEIDENHAIN sealed linear encoders have an aluminum housing that protects the scale, scanning carriage, and guideway from chips, dust, and splash water, with sealing lips below and a coupling that compensates for misalignment.
