The RSF MS 25 family uses optical singlefield scanning in an exposed linear encoder design. The scanning head includes a three-colour signal-quality indicator to support installation checks.

The scanning head, graduation carrier and receiving electronics must be matched. Verify output signal, interpolation/resolution, connector pinout, measuring length, reference marks and mounting tolerances. An MS 25 family name alone does not identify a compatible replacement.
