HEIDENHAIN ERA 7400 C / ERA 8400 C Modular Angle Encoders | Configuration Inquiry

HEIDENHAIN's ERA 7400 C and ERA 8400 C are full-circle modular incremental angle encoder scale tapes for large-diameter applications. The ERA 7000 series mounts its steel scale tape on an inside diameter; the ERA 8000 series mounts it on an outside diameter. • HEIDENHAIN's modular angle encoder catalog documents a METALLUR steel scale tape with a 40 µm grating period, distance-coded reference marks, and compatible 1 VPP scanning heads (AK ERA 7480 for ERA 7400 C; AK ERA 8480 for ERA 8400 C).
• ERA 7400 C is the internal-mount full-circle scale tape; ERA 7401 C is a segment version. ERA 8400 C is external-mount full-circle; ERA 8401 C and ERA 8402 C are segment variants with different fastening. The families are not interchangeable without checking the machine design.
• The catalog specifies 36,000, 45,000, or 90,000 signal periods per revolution for listed full-circle diameters. Exact diameter, mounting surface, scale tape, scanning head, connector, and interface must be checked for the application.
