HEIDENHAIN EIB 1500 Dual-Head Angular Signal Converters
The HEIDENHAIN EIB 1500 series provides interpolation and digitizing electronics for high-accuracy angular measurement with two scanning heads. It calculates their positions in real time and outputs serial position values through EnDat 2.2, Fanuc Serial Interface or Mitsubishi high speed interface.
Technical Data
- Input: incremental rotational HEIDENHAIN encoder with 1 VPP signals and distance-coded reference marks
- Scanning-head arrangement: two scanning heads positioned 180° ±5° apart
- Input frequency: up to 400 kHz
- Input connections: two 12-pin female M23 flange connectors
- Encoder supply: DC 5 V ±0.25 V, generated from the EIB supply; up to 150 mA per encoder
- Input cable: up to 6 m
- EIB 1512 output: EnDat 2.2, ordering designation EnDat22; calculation time up to 5 µs; clock frequency up to 16 MHz
- EIB 1592 F output: Fanuc Serial Interface, ordering designation Fanuc02
- EIB 1592 M output: Mitsubishi high speed interface, ordering designation Mit02-4
- Output connection: 8-pin male M12 flange socket
- Output cable: up to 100 m for EnDat 2.2; up to 20 m for Fanuc or Mitsubishi, subject to supply conditions
- Subdivision: up to 16 384-fold, depending on the encoder
- Supply voltage: DC 3.6 V to 14 V
- Maximum power consumption: less than 3.3 W at 3.6 V or less than 3.0 W at 14 V, including scanning-head current consumption up to 150 mA
- Operating temperature: 0 °C to 70 °C
- Storage temperature: -30 °C to 70 °C
- Protection: IP65
- Mass: approximately 0.3 kg
Configuration and diagnostics
The two scanning heads must match the specified encoder arrangement and reference marks. Cable voltage drop must be checked in detail because the EIB and both scanning heads require power. Confirm the encoder, output interface and cable lengths before ordering. EnDat 2.2 online diagnostics provide valuation numbers for the incremental track, reference pulse width and reference pulse position; the lower value from the two connected encoders is used.
