HEIDENHAIN IBV 3000 Cable Signal Converters

HEIDENHAIN IBV 3000 Cable Signal Converters

The HEIDENHAIN IBV 3000 series converts 1 VPP incremental encoder signals into TTL signals. Its cable design puts the signal-converter electronics inside the D-sub connector. The current IBV 3x71 family includes IBV 3171, IBV 3271 and IBV 3371, with interpolation options up to 400-fold.

Technical Data

  • Input: incremental 1 VPP
  • Output: incremental TTL
  • Input connections: 15-pin, 2-row female D-sub with locking nuts, or 12-pin female M23
  • Output connection: 15-pin, 2-row male D-sub with locking screws and integrated electronics
  • IBV cable: 4.5 mm diameter; up to 3 m
  • Subsequent cable: up to 100 m with HEIDENHAIN cable; up to 20 m when homing or limit signals are used
  • IBV 3171: 5-fold or 10-fold interpolation; input frequency up to 200 kHz
  • IBV 3271: 20-fold to 400-fold interpolation, with permitted input frequency decreasing from 100 kHz to 6.25 kHz
  • IBV 3371: 400-fold interpolation; input frequency up to 3.125 kHz
  • Power supply: 5 V ±0.25 V measured at the IBV
  • Current consumption: up to 80 mA typical, without load or encoder
  • Operating temperature: 0 °C to 70 °C
  • Storage temperature: -30 °C to 70 °C
  • Protection: IP40
  • Mass: 71 g for the IBV without cable, with electronics

Selection and installation

Match the complete IBV ID, interpolation factor, encoder signal frequency and both connectors. Homing and limit signals require encoder support and the specified cable-length limit. The product information gives the model-specific edge separation and pin layouts.
