HEIDENHAIN LIP 6000 Dplus Multi-Axis Incremental Linear Encoders

The HEIDENHAIN LIP 6000 Dplus series is an exposed incremental linear encoder with two diagonal graduation tracks at ±45°. It measures primary-axis motion and orthogonal secondary-axis motion on one scale. The LIP 6031 Dplus uses EnDat 3 to transmit two position values over a single cable; the LIP 6081 Dplus is the 1 VPP variant.

Multi-axis selection

A Dplus scanning head measures two degrees of freedom. A suitable two-head arrangement can also measure rotation about the Z axis. Confirm the scale length, scanning-head arrangement, mounting method, interface and downstream processing before selecting a configuration. This is an incremental system: reference marks establish the reference position during referencing; the encoder is not an absolute encoder that retains an initialized position through a power cycle.
