HEIDENHAIN EIB 5000 Temperature Measurement Signal Converters
The HEIDENHAIN EIB 5000 series adds temperature measurement to encoder feedback in direct-drive applications. It measures up to three temperature sensors, evaluates their values and relays the connected encoder's position data to the control. Select the version to match the encoder, control interface, sensor types and installation location.
Technical Data
- Temperature inputs: up to three sensors
- Supported sensors: KTY 84-130, PT 1000, PTC or PTC triplet, as selected for the version

- Supply: EIB 5181 and EIB 5281/5282: 5 V ±10%; EIB 5211/5212 and EIB 5291 F: 3.6 V to 14 V; EIB 5291 S: DC 24 V, operating range 16.0 V to 28.8 V
- External-unit mass: approximately 0.5 kg
Selection and compatibility
The connected encoder and control determine the feedback interface and ordering designation. EIB 52xx units other than the EIB 5291 F/S are optimized for EnDat 2.2, with the interface determined by the encoder. The encoder must be designed for connection to the selected EIB where specified. Temperature sensor selection, time constant, cable length and motor requirements must be confirmed for the application. The EIB 5181's temperature measurement time constant is set with DIP switches.
The EIB 5291 S supports functional-safety applications only within the documented encoder, connection and safety-system requirements. Functional safety is not a series-wide feature. Use the model-specific specifications and safety information before selecting a replacement.
