HEIDENHAIN LIC 4100 V High-Vacuum Absolute Linear Encoders

The HEIDENHAIN LIC 4100 V series is an exposed absolute linear encoder for high-vacuum applications. LIC 4113V uses EnDat 2.2; LIC 4193V variants support Fanuc, Mitsubishi, Panasonic or Yaskawa interfaces. The encoder combines a scanning head with an LIC 4003 glass or glass-ceramic scale secured with fixing clamps.

  • Traversing speed: up to 600 m/min, subject to interface conditions

  • Electrical connection: 1 m or 3 m cable with a 15-pin D-sub connector, female
  • Maximum cable length: 100 m for EnDat; 50 m for Fanuc, Panasonic or Yaskawa; 30 m for Mitsubishi, with the specified cable

Vacuum installation and selection

The vacuum variants use vented cavities, vacuum-friendly materials and specialized cleaning and packaging to reduce outgassing. The cable has PTFE insulation and tin-plated copper braiding. For the lowest possible outgassing, the product information recommends baking at 100 °C for 48 hours under high-vacuum conditions.

Confirm the exact scanning-head interface, scale material, measuring length, mounting clamps, cable route and vacuum process before selecting a configuration. Standard LIC 4100 parts are not automatically interchangeable with the vacuum variants. The 100 °C baking limit is not the continuous operating-temperature limit.
