HEIDENHAIN MRS 2200 Angle Encoder Modules

HEIDENHAIN MRS 2200 Angle Encoder Modules

HEIDENHAIN MRS 2200 angle encoder modules combine an angle encoder and a precision bearing in a compact assembly. They are designed for articulated measuring arms and other applications that need high tilt resistance, repeatable angle measurement and a 10 mm hollow through shaft.

Bearing variants

MRS 2280 and MRS 2230 allow a centered static axial load of 100 N and a static tilting torque of 5 Nm. Their calculated tilt resistance is 52 Nm/mrad, and their mass is 0.34 kg without cable or connector.

MRS 2281 and MRS 2231 allow a centered static axial load of 50 N and a static tilting torque of 2.5 Nm. Their calculated tilt resistance is 24 Nm/mrad, and their mass is 0.23 kg without cable or connector.

These load limits are purely static, without additional vibration or shock. Overlapping individual loads are not taken into account. Select the bearing variant and installation arrangement for the actual application.

Electrical connections

The incremental models use DC 5 V ±0.25 V, a 14-pin PCB connector and a cable length up to 30 m with the specified cable. They have one reference mark and a −3 dB cutoff frequency of at least 210 kHz.

The absolute models use DC 3.6 V to 14 V and a 16-pin PCB connector. EnDat 3 supports bus operation and data rates of 12.5 Mbit/s or 25 Mbit/s. Permissible transmission distance depends on data rate and the number of bus participants: up to 40 m at 25 Mbit/s with up to three participants, or up to 100 m at 12.5 Mbit/s with up to six participants. Follow the catalog limits for other configurations.

Confirm the exact model, mounting dimensions, load limits, connector and interface before replacement. Electromagnetic compatibility of the complete system must be ensured during installation. MRS modules provide measurement and bearings; they do not include a drive motor.
